Hi BT,
What about casting one from some scrap brass, https://www.woodworkforums.com/f65/an...y-work-135610/
I can cast a few blanks if you want to give it a try...
Hi Phil,
Good to see the Grey Nomad's have a new recruit...
Regards
Ray

Thanks for the kind offer Ray but given my current fondness for hewing from solid, I'll use the bit of brass bar I purchased.
Down the track, should I make more planes and should I display some, presently lacking, alacrity in their execution, cast caps would be a logical move. I do have a couple of cast caps, kindly donated to me by Peter McBride. One is about 3 inches wide. Peter suggested it would be handy for a nice skew mouthed mitre plane. Something to think about.

Caravans
I probably forgot to mention, we purchased a 2nd hand, Coromal 17ft- 6" pop top, double axle, a couple of mths ago & just returned from the first venture away. Covered a couple of thous Ks.
It was a 2 week jaunt into the bush up NW of NSW & all went well.
A big step up from our OZ Tent & sleeping on the ground for some years.
We will still use the tent for out of the way places, but the comfort of the van was very good.
Have the Bicycles hanging on a modified rack on the rear. Currently making a welded modification to same to reduce vibration.
All the best.
regards
Bruce
