Thanks everyone.... I checked out airless spray gun filters on ebay and they might be just what I need...

I will try the 3v1L bunnings tomorrow first, then I will try a paint shop and see if a filter will be suitable...

I'd buy a fine s/s mesh strainer (food or smaller=tea) in a kitchen store and chop it up.

I ran all over Rockhampton today looking for mesh..... x said to go to y and y said to try z... Eventually just went to a paint place and there sitting was a mesh strainer for airless spray guns... Got it home and it is slightly finer, but it will do just fine...

In the morning?, I was looking at the time you posted the message. Your chances of success would be inversely proportional to how desperately you needed the item and how close knock off time approached. I've had some success using a sand blaster with fine silica sand at cleaning fine wire mesh, although you have to hold the gun at a distance to reduce the impact of the sand particles.

I found Ezi Weld 801 flux to be very good for soft soldering stainless including woven mesh EZI-WELD Flux - 801 Soldering Fluid although the product description of that link is wrong, it's not a paste but a liquid

Another great source will be found here:

Custom Wire Cloth - Belleville Wire Cloth Co - Cedar Grove, NJ

Used them in the past, they have sent me samples and I believe their specialty is the finest wire mesh in the industry.

They make all alloys, so they should have brass and bronze in stock and ready to move when you place your order.

Used them in the past, reliable service and product.
