    Default buying Alodine?

    Hi,
    Anyone know where I can buy Alodine in Australia (preferably WA)?
    I know there are lots of other surface treatments for alloy but its for a boat outdrive that lives underwater and Alodine is the tried and tested solution to getting a protective coating to stay on.

    Used to sell it at Knock & Kirbys. If they haven't banned it (!), maybe the maybe the mob who took them over, Bunnings? Failing that, Jandakot airport - if there's a store - or if you don't wear a towel on your head, one of the maintenance hangars might be open to supplying some.

    You can buy it from Aviall but it is exy. Alodine 1200, 1201, 1200l is what we use. There are several different types of alodine and of course the are generic replacements (such as cellogold IIRC) which do the same thing, personally am not convinced that it is worth the hassle on aircraft.

    We normally have some mixed in the hangar. If you only need to do a few parts, I would suggest door knocking until someone who is sympathetic to the cause can help. Most shop cant give it away once mixed.
