    I bought a $3 vice stop
    CDCO Machinery Corp.
Not used it on a vice yet, but it works great as a saddle stop on my Douglas shaper.
Postage from USA is dear, but if you're getting other gear from them it's a good box filler.

To snap Hafco and Paramount brand sockets back together just requires a good grip and a big push (probably why they flop all over the place when extended), it's best to orientate the ball at a slight angle. The cheapies I have can be difficult to push together again, so when I don't feel like expending that amount of time and energy I just apply heat to the socket for a few seconds and push them back together again. The cheapies don't flop around like the others but can be difficult to make minute adjustments with (grease might help).
Great thank you very much for that..

Just hit the BIN and ordered one.
It's amazing what you can find out if you ask.

    Default Small drill bits

    I bought a box of 280 small HSS drill bits for $35 (+ $8 P+H)

They start at 0.3mm and go up to 3.00mm in 0.1mm steps. There are 10 of each size supplied in small plastic tubes.
Branded as "EagleS". Below that "USA Stanard" (That's not bad spelling on my part).

I have trialled a few of them in wood, aluminium, brass and steel. I haven't broken any, and all holes were round with little or no burring.

    Available from Robson's Tool King.

Interesting........ when I click on your link it takes me straight to the Cairns store, with a slightly lower price for the same items.

I had another interesting experience with Masters website some time ago when looking for a new ride-on mower, and was quoted the same retail price as other vendors were quoting for the same unit. I checked again a few weeks later, and the quoted price for the same unit was of the order of $200 less. The same thing happened again some time later, with a further reduction of around $200. During a visit to the store shortly after this, the price tag on the display mower was still the price I was originally quoted. I ended up not buying that make of mower, but it would have interesting to see whether a fourth price check on the website would have produced an even lower quote. I don't have an account with Masters, and, as far as I remember, have never yet bought anything from them, even as a cash sale, so they must be tracking even random anonymous enquiries for later follow up. Big Brother is watching!

    Aaron,

I ended up with a 30" cut Husqvarna, which seemed to be the best value of the four makes in the 26" to 30" cut range that I looked at. Several friends and relations have Huskys (Huskies?), and seem to be happy with them. It only has 17 hours on it so far, so I can't really make any useful comments on servicability and maintenance costs, but it is a big improvement in comfort and convenience over the 29 year old 26" Rover it replaced, which my grandson is still happily using after making a minor repair. Because of gate sizes and numerous obstacles, anything bigger than a 30" cut becomes awkward to use on this block, so wouldn't really save any time.

    Frank.

    Hi Aaron
I use them for finishing just clean up and polishing

They will remove metal if run at full speed so if I'm cleaning up something that's machined to finished size I'll run the angle grinder with a speed control. And just worry about the finish.

They are a lot less agressive than a flap disk

    Interesting.

What's the composition ? Do they have some sort of grit/carborundum content?

I normally finish up with wet and dry or wire buff, depending on the job. I don't have a speed control. Do you reco these are too agressive without dropping the revs ?

Last week I bought a power cord with four spaced switched outlets. Total 12m length. Great for my shed extension. Have mounted on roof beams as they are low enough to reach. $31.00.

Two 15m wind up extension cords on reels with four outlets, $20.00 each. Single switch and circuit breaker.

All power cables are shed sized diameter, not domestic.

Four saw horses in packs of two for $25.00 per pack. Not exactly the strongest available but fine to support stuff for working on, like the two doors for my shed extension western end which are having the sheeting fitted. Old faded colourbond on bottom and new polycarb on top. Now winter is over I thought it was time to close it in to keep of the weather which mostly comes from South and West.

All came from Banner Hardware. Sorry, South Oz (or close) only.

Next I have to get an RCD switched four way outlet to use on my generator which I got from Masters (we have the only one in SA). 3800w for $400. Mentioned it before but did not elaborate. It is electric start, got used last weekend for the first time for real to drill holes in fence post down near our woolshed. Heaps quicker and easier than cordless drill. It worked great, hardly changed tone when loaded with 750w drill. Starts very quick. Have to do some welding on the cattle crush at some time. Hard to weld with 100m extension cable. I am wrapped. Pretty quiet too.

    Seem cheap for the price.

I did use something similar many years ago (with a much more open porous composition) for paint stripping, but they shat themselves fairly quickly and I went back to emery discs.

    I'm tempted.

I have to strip paint/rust off of the garage gables and was going to use sanding discs (I got a heap of them at a closing down sale years ago).

How do these pads last at full speed ?
