BV-25B-L Lathe Info Please
Hi people, my father in law has dropped of a BV-25B-L lathe at my workshop, 300mm spindle bore, 700mm between centres. Anyone know much about these lathes, who manufactures them, where to get parts and drawings, etc? Also, maybe someone owns one?
Cheers,
Matt

Borum??
Borum Importers in Perth sell a BM250, Riverland steel sell a lookalike called the BV25 on ebay also. 27mm bore, geared head, 700mm BC, 250 SOB. If that's not the one look on alibaba, aliexpress or made-in-china.com. I considered one of these before I bought my current lathe. Metric threading only I believe.

Lookalikes
Another lookalike, the Chinese sure do like to copy each other. Doesn't look like that bed would twist very easily.

For parts, details, tooling etc. look up Little Machine Shop in the states you should find a machine of similar design capacity. They have quite a few listed under different brand names.

The BV25 is a lathe that was designed from scratch by the Chinese government to supply an affordable mass produced simple manual lathe to the many small Chinese manufacturing and repair shops. Its designs were made freely available to any big and small Chinese factory wishing to take up lathe manufacturing. Each of these factories has over time been adding its own subtle detail modifications to the basic design. Many different foundries cast the components and supply the large and small factories as well as very small backyard style lathe makers.
Do a Google picture search for "BV25 Lathe" to see a selection. The BV25 is just one specific size, there are others in the series of lathes like BV15, BV18, BV20, BV25, BV30, BV130.... They can be manufactured for export under any color and brand name and model number that a dealer would request. Some dealers choose to leave the "BVxx" model number, some others have this changed to whatever they fancy. In the case of the BV25, two models BV25B (geared head) and BV25L (long) seem to be the most popular variations (combined its your BV25B-L). Chris
