CDCO Machinery
G'Day Gang,
I have sent a couple of emails to CDCO over the last couple of days, directly from the email address at their site. To date I have had no reply, has any one else had difficulties contacting them.
Cheers Bruce

I went onto their site yesterday and found their pricing very good. I went into the shopping cart but it would only recognise internal American addresses. So I thought I would send them an Email. My system here would not recognise the CDCO Email provider. So I copied the Email address and sent it (supposedly sucessfully) using my Yahoo Email account. Its been more than 24 hours and no word from them. I seem to remember some time ago I did the same thing and never got any response. I don't know how else to contact them.My order to them would be over $150 plus postage. Maybe they don't want us to buy anything?
Just do it!
Kind regards Rod

He was fine when Bruce and I bought from him, he responded quickly, we spent $500 or so all up i guess. It was when we had some problems that Frank did not reply.

I have found the same as ueee. When you are spending the money Frank is fine; when a problem arises he sidesteps and doesn't particularly want to know you.
I have been purchasing from Tools4cheap. Jeff is a bit dearer and has less range but his quality is better (I think). He is as good as his word and has a A1 rep.

CDCO Machinery
Hi
Bought twice from CDCO and had no problems. Email was usually answered within 48 hours and he was good with filling the shipping boxes to get best value.
I actually found CTC were very poor with email, up to a week !

I remember a year or two ago a thread somewhere about there being 2 emails addresses, and only one working.

I'm currently in contact with Frank about an order for some BXA tool holders, he responds within 24 to 48 hours, must remember the time difference, freight is now $65 for a 20LB. box, 50 was bad enough, now I'm thinking twice about it.

I ended up sending 2 more emails and today I received a reply. Basically the postage would be $124.00? to ship 2 x 8" D1-6 backplates. Now the Camlock plates themselves are only $65 each which made them very attractive, there is mention in the email to maybe pick an additional 13lbs of other gear and the postage will still be the $124.
So it looks like the $60 for a 20lb package does not apply to me.
Cheers

Sounds to me as though 1 8" backplate weighs 13lbs (5.9kgs), so he can't get 2 in one box (max is 20lbs).
If he says you can add another 13lbs, then it would be very strange that fitting 2 backplates in a 20lb box would leave 13lbs unused, that would make each bakplate 3.5lbs or about 1.6kgs.

Frank is very good about juggling things around to ensure we get the maximum #20 in each box. I put an order with him again yesterday, mainly for a 5C collet set, and as per usual ask him how many extra AXA tool holders I can get into the box (in this case 4). He's very used to getting the maximum amount into a box. In your case it sounds as if he's using two boxes, as each one he charges $62 and it takes 20 lbs. Incidentally, $62 is a bargain. I believe USPS put their rates up at the beginning of the year, and the retail on one of these boxes is now up to US$80. I'm not sure if Frank gets them cheaper in bulk, or whether he's copping the difference, I suspect the former. Another act of brilliance by the US government to ensure their export economy is non-existent

Hi Pete,
That makes more sense, strangely my brain didn't compute even though I thought 7lbs for 2 backplates doesn't seem right.
Cheers

Hi Bruce,
If the postage is so steep, why not try your hand at making some? A slice of CI and some pins and you are there. There was a link to a seller that sells the pins in the states.....i think it was Michael G that posted it, in the talking about fitting camlock chucks to RT's.
Damn....i thought i had saved that link...I'll see if i can find the thread.

D1-3
Does he have D1-3 backing plates ? I had his catalogue somewhere but its gone walkabout
If so he might fit X2 of them into a 50 pound USPS box, being lighter ? than the D1-6 version
I need them for my Chipmaster lathe

MacIt - Home
The other place that I have had success going to is PLAZA MACHINERY,USED MACHINERY, METALWORKING MACHINERY, WOODWORKING MACHINERY. Joe is a one man band and can be a little slow in responding but does have some nice things in good condition and posts an on-line stock list. You will find some D1-x chucks and backing plates there. No CC facilities - payment is by bank transfer (if you do this remember there is a $15 cashing fee at the other end that needs to be added on). He sold me my 8" R/T - with freight included a YUASA R/T was around (a little cheaper I think) the price of a H&F Chinese...
