Has anyone received a PM from miss Emma.
I have no idea where in Newstead John lives and no PM
It's gone awfully quiet.

I was wondering the same today. she was very vague and despite many offers of assistance. She continued to post and ignored those and switched to pushing for funding.

I don't know John or Miss Emma Jade but this just doesn't look right to me and my spies in Newstead say beware. If this is genuine, someone needs to come clean with what the problem is and what can genuinely be done to help.
I would advise strongly against any involvement by members (especially the sending of money) until something concrete and verifiable is posted here.

Thanks Neil, I hope it's not a scam, John's pretty genuine and well known in the metal working forums, so all we need to do is to find out what (if anything) we can actually do to help, if not, well, so be it.
We need for someone to go to Newstead and find out what's needed.

The good wife and I will pop over to Newstead for a coffee at the 'Dig' today and I'll report back.

Just drove past and it is all caged up including the Men's Shed.
Absolutely no admittance due to public safety concerns.
Our run may be a bit late gentlemen.
Looking at it, the big 'A' word could be involved.

It's the good wife here, perhaps too many syllables for my better half. It looks like asbestos.

Sorry i hadnt checked in today. Sadly i have work too, or i would go down and give the old guy a hand. I was in touch yesterday off and on, and a trip around the back will certainly find him . John was and is still in shock when i last spoke, 11pm last night. If you know him and can xall in for a yarn then thats probably the best help anyone can give.

The last update is that he couldnt find his password to log in here and give a more indepth update to you all, so from me, here it is.
Mrs ashburn is in cebu city still, shes very supportive and she will certainlybe here on the ground as soon as her school term is over. Shes a university professor and very switched on.
The issue is probably that someone wants the block of land, yes there is asbestos in the building and there is/was a timeline for removal. An accident with a tree has sped that up and the council hired an engineer to give a report. There are fences up yesterday, BUT i believe that the removal work has not even been put out for tender so the situation might be as it is for some time. Certainly long enough to get some of the contents of the shed removed. Yes a lot of the machinery has more collector value than resale , but the cars are looked after and mostly intact and very restorable. Anyway my intention in posting this here wasnt to argue about scrap metal or building regulations, it was because i thought it would be a nice thing to do to pass the hat around for an old friend who a lot of us know in person. Thanks for understanding and a big thanks for the many who have helped out this week.

thanks to anyone who got in touch and to those who have been a help.
I got home from work to have a look at this forum on computer rather than tapatalk and answer some questions. really I dont think I can be bothered answering most of this dribble. I only posted here initially because im a nice person, and thought it wouldn't hurt to let the locals who might like to go along and see if they could help, and as an afterthought i thought It might be nice to pass the hat around and get something done for john.
so a big thanks to anyone who came to the party, there were a few of you who gave a tenner or a bit more and were happy to offer it without expecting anything back. it will really be helpful.
so for the rest, you can pretty much go jump. yes, buyer beware... (I wasn't aware i was selling anything)
love the spies and conspiracy twist too..
grow up guys. no hidden agendas with me.
maybe the moderator could close this post, and we will just watch out for a cheap lathe or shaper in the scrapyards in a few months.
i wouldnt know what I'm looking at though. I'm just a girl..
discussion over.
I don't think this needs further input from anyone.
