can someone in central victoria (goldfields) lend a hand in emergency?
hi guys. I havent even been much around the forums here, just a lurker, really, but tonight i got word that one of our very senior forum members has some issues with the building he is working out of, and needs to empty it as a matter of urgency. at this point its not to sell anything, just to move it into adjacent space.
if anyone at all could help (im posting this off my own bat, so im not going to disclose who it is or what has happened) id love to hear about it. unfortunately i am in SE queensland, and have work commitments that i cant get out of without resigning, and to be honest thats not gonna help anyone much.
some cheap shipping containers, or some manpower, or a cheap truck and hiab would go a long way for a start. maybe you could send the word out, some of this stuff is pretty heavy and some cars etc in the building are fragile.
I guess a lot of you would know this member, and maybe we have a big enough community to do some good. Id hate to see any of it scrapped, or destroyed, and at the moment (the news is fresh today june 9th 2015) he is, and close family are still in shock, but tomorrow will probably mean springing into action. anything would be apreciated, spare roofing iron, tarps to lend buy borrow... let me know with a phone number or pM me if you would rather and Ill make sure this gets passed on.
thanks for reading, and i do hope we can all open our hearts and make a difference to the poor guy.

thanks for checking guys.
as some of you may know, the member I posted about is John Ashburn from central victoria.
tonight I set up a gofundme campaign to see if we can help out. john would be first to pass the hat around if someone else was in trouble, so maybe we can do the same for him.
check it out, if you can spare a fiver. please?

I set up a gofundme campaign
thanks guys for thoughts and to those who contacted me already.I set this gofundme campaign up tonight, maybe someone can spare a fiver.
mostly at the moment its to get some stuff out of the victorian winter, so Ive set the end goal at approximately the cost of shipping container.
john would be the first guy to send round the hat for anyone he knew, so lets try to return the favour!

Cash contributions
Miss emma,
Is it possible to amend the "fund me" scheme to include making transfers into a bank account, or PayPal maybe.
Not everyone will have a credit card.

I'm totally lost. According to your GofundMe web site. Update #1. That's today, mostly gone all ready gone.
Well its Thursday the 11th of June and baracades are going up as we speak
Whilst I admire your passion and the attempt to pull at heart strings. What's the real story?
Sounds like the council is pulling the pin, what's that about, non payment of rent / rates. He mentioned marrying Dr. Jenny straight off the main land. Is it day 366, and she's cutting in for half?
I've meet John. He's a Steptoe. The machines are junk. Its a hundred bucks a tonne. Most of them aren't working. The Inverse to that saying. One man's Treasure is another man's Trash.
at this point its not to sell anything
and some cars etc in the building are fragile.
I hate to be the rude prick. But its best to hear it outright. Whilst it might have impressed you, John's machine's even the one that are working, are barely worth scrap value. Moving them / Hiab / Container. I'll ask you this. If they went into a container, do you think they would ever come out again, given that John is closer to 70, than 60?
A search of liquidation and estate auctions would do you better. What ever has happened to John at his age. That's it. Doubt I'll be putting in to have his stuff put into containers that are going to cost $2.5k to buy.
Phil.
