There is another option if you are lucky enough to have a house with two of the 3 phases supplied, that was pretty common in the 50's and 60's in Victoria. The fuse box on the roof is the give away, 415V is available across the two phases so a US style RPC can be built with a 415V motor.

That looks a bit like that, it come fom Midland railway workshop. I enquired about three phase power told it would cost about 3 to 4 thousand I just could not afford that

I guess the first thing to find out is the motor(s) power ratings. The options start there.
There are also 240V in 415V out VFDs (more common in the UK).

I had a look at the Harrision mill, he wants $3200 it is quite small not much in the acc's dept no vice or tooling etc table is 8 inch x 30 inch Iwould say it go's back to seventies thankyou for letting me know about it it's not that great done quite a lot of work as some things are worn he doesn't know much about it, as it belong to his father who is deceased. Nothing vetured nothing gained. The whole package was a bit over priced but it did say negotiable so worth a look. The larger mills are rare in Perth so if any more come up I'll give you a heads up.

It looks and the features are pretty much same as HM48 of coarse the quaility would be much better than the HM48 it seems odd no acc's perhaps they are there he just doesn't what they belong to the mill anyway once again thankyou for your help Rod regards David
