Hi Roly, I can't help you specifically with that size lathe, but just to let you know a couple different businesses sell that model or a copy in WA. Have you seen the Hare & Forbes website? You might be able to compare prices and get a better deal.

Google search
Roly,
If you cut and paste CJ0623 Bench Lathe into google there are quite a few hits.
I think it suggests that the same lathe is made in half a dozen different places with possibly half a dozen different variants and qualities.
Some sites will be able to provide a set of specs for the lathe.
500/700 would suggest that those dimensions are between centers. That would be with a center fitted in place of the chuck and a center in the headstock-hence between centers.Thats how I read it.
Be real careful before you rush in mate,
Quality. longevity backup, spares, number in use are all things that could be considered before price.
There are yahoo BB sites on the net that might deal in the type of machine you are inquiring about This is the case with my 12 x36 ( lathe ) in Metric thats 300 diam swing by 900 between centers.
Hope it helps
Grahame

Fiora's are good to deal with, just make sure you deal with Angelo ( the boss) The underlings did not impress me much.
I got my Mill from them and they are a bit easier to get to, than H&F for you.
It's the same old story, the more expensive machines tend to be better/have more features.
I'd suggest you go to Fiora's display room and spend a few hours asking them all the questions you can think of. You may be surprised at the size of some of the machines! You can read specs but nothing compares to using the Mk 1 eye ball. (Just to let you know, they aren't open on Saturdays.)
Whats you budget and what do you want to do with it?
Regarding the milling attachment, I am not sure they are worth getting, but I have no first hand experience with them. I may depend on what you want to do with it.

The AL-54B's seem to be quite capable little lathes. I have no experience with them, my lathe is a AL-335.
Some else on this forum, who owns one, may pipe up and give you some info, otherwise you could try Googling it.
It all depends on what sort of features you think you may want/need.
When purchasing, don't forget to squeeze them for a discount.
