Mike, I too have a Cash mill like yours - just not as complete. Well done!

Hi Joe
Maybe the three of us can form a Cash mill owners club I see Greg has the vertical attachment .. a neat thing to have , and the original coolant pump as well . I wonder how many they made .
I think that French lathe is lacking thread cutting cabability . Basically it's a copy lathe and that's why it didn't seem to be worth much .

Sounds like plan, Mike. FYI and Greg: craftsman12 (Adriaan) also has one that looks complete - that's 4. And Steamwhisperer (Phil) has a mate with one.
I intend to go and have look at Adriaan's one day soon to see ifI can replicate the original table feed which is completely missing on mine.
I also haven't figured out the way lubrication yet. Like Adriaan, I found a heap of "random" holes all over the machine and imagine some of them are oil holes, but haven't identified them all yet. I have an idea to fit a central oiling system one day when I rescrape the whole thing and have it all apart again (last ti,e was when I got it about 20 years ago). I got mine without any table ends or table screw or nut or hand wheels....
Cheers,
Joe

G'day All,
As mentioned I too have a Cash mill, they are a nice little machine.
Cash engineering is still in business (as off 2010) and are based in Richmond, they are world leaders in compressor technology and hold a lot of patents. I got in contact with the grandson of one of the founders who is the current CEO and had a couple of chats on the phone with him.
Cash was started by two brothers and the mill was first produced under a war contract to supply the US Army Airforce for aircract maintenance.
They made machines for use in their factory an then progressed to manufacture them for the general market.
As the add in Mike's post states they apparently made a variety of machines, the grandson, ( I can't remember his name but I still have the emails somewhere) promised to send through a copy of an old sales brochure with all their machines but I got the impression he was fairly busy and it must have slipped his mind.
I caught up with Adrian last weekend and if anyone else needs any info or photos etc just drop me a line and I will be more than happy to provide whatever I can.
Cheers,
Greg.
