Doing a big cleanup at work and we're going through all the cupboards to work out what stays and what goes, so I figured this was a good time to take some pics.

One of our Mikron A22 automatic hobbers. Unfortunately we're missing some of the auto-loading system, so we have to run it as a manual one-by-one machine, but it is capable of fully automatic operation and it doesn't have a single computer chip in it, everything is electro-hydraulic. Hard to see the chart in the pic, but the spindle goes up to 7200 rpm...not bad for a machine pushing 40 years old; the change gears and worms for indexing all have oil jets directly on them to keep them happy at those speeds.

This is a "program", each disc is 2 parts that can be adjusted to set the duration of each action in the cycle. Side note, anyone know anything about the munitions factory in Footscray?

It mounts in the side of the machine and has a series of rollers that follow each disc to trigger the various solenoids.

And this is the kind of stuff we can make with it: 0.2 module, 10 teeth, 0.8mm bore. Grain of rice for scale
