Coil winder more info
Hi Inkspot
A big welcome to our forum.
We have a pretty good track record here of being able to assist people with peoples problems relative to metalworking.
This can be made much easier for everyone if you can give us a bit of background the how ,why when of what you are trying to achieve.
For example, there may be those among our big range of skilled artisans, those who have dabbled in electronics and may have built their own coil winders.
Alternately someone may be able to make one for you.
Coil winders don't strike me as being a big volume manufacture and I suspect you may find them difficult to find.
It possible someone can give you a photo or description and a how to set of instructions, the mob here never cease to amaze me.
When you have got want you wanted, don't leave us ,never to be heard of again , stick around, its a really interesting place. Maybe your skills or experiences can help someone else.
Information, give us more information.

Do you mean a coil winder for winding electrical wire or a winder for making springs?

Coil Winder
Thanks Grahame and others....
I am trying to manufacture coils for tattoo machines. Most of the good stuff needs to be imported from America and that is very expensive as the freight costs spoil it. I need various items such as coil cores, maybe some frames to be machined, material for springs, armature bar etc. To make the machines is not easy as the geometry is very important. And then of course the set up of the machine needs an expert. The geometry etc. and the set up is in hand and now the rest needs to be organised. One step at the time. Incidently, I am an accountant.

Coil Winder
Thanks China, I am on the way. Research and gathering of information has taken considerable time. I am after very low carbon iron or mild steel, I think 1006 is best but don't know how malleable this is. The rest of the technical knowledge is going really well. Now the supplies and some services, that's all !

Have a look at this blog. The person has built a coil winder for tattoo guns. appears to be along the lines of what you are after.
