new-guy90, think you better have a look at this page, then go have a look at what else is on offer at this site as well.
Heaps more info freely available about BOTH sized lathes if you need it.
If your pocket can afford it, then get the biggest lathe you can.

no but been all over HMEM and the other smaller sites
youtube did help but they were not easy to find ill bite to bullet soon but i still have to see an ex school hercus yeah i know worn to buggery but it cant hurt to take a look, there are a few other places i want to take a look at before i buy so in a week or so ill try and buyhappy turning

thats another popular machine but still similar i can see it has cam lock tail stock, closed oil-bath gearbox, its a little bigger, has all the safety switches and has a bigger motor all in all it looks like a good choice.
does it have the reverse feed for left hand threads?happy turning

well........ i want to try some pens as my wood lathe is on the blink and make some from different materials, there are some tools i want to try and make and for some miniature work. working in a CNC shop is great but i cant use any of the machines to um work for the gov as i cant yet program (yet ) and it takes some time to set up a job on those machines so its not really worth it when you only want to make 1 part i want to get a mill but its so much more expensive and the one i want is well over $5,000

well i just read the email form shaw machinery that they sent out yesterday and the steel master model SM-0920 and the price stated was cheaper than the H&F's AL-50G's usual price!!!!!!!! more machine for less money i like it even if the price is a little higher its still very tempting .........i wonder when i can go see it but if i do i bet ill end up buying it right there and i dont want to do what i did when i went to carba-tec, saw my belt sander said "yeah ill take that" and nearly killed myself carrying it home on the train why did i take the train
