Default Coolant UV Sterlisation in lieu of biocides

Thinking of coolants and the life span being shortened by bacteria I thought about UV sterilisation. They are used in cooling tower water for specifically reducing legionella bacteria and others, wondered what smallish units were were available so did a google ...the aus sites were a tad vague about size etc etc but pricing looked fair so went a little deeper and ended up at an aquarium place in the uk and was checking out the tech data of some of the units, and then clicked on the link to Hoi for sale inititially thinking this was another brand of uv for sale.....how can they ask 2000.00 quid for a carp has me beat....now thinking about changing jobs and become a murray fisherman targeting carp

Any how the units seem reasonably small and with a properly set up system I couldnt see why they wouldnt work...may need to do something for when to machine/s are idle though ...such as catching the solution (before it drains into the machines storage system), into a tank with the UV system so that the UV can be operated during times of no use of the mill lathe

I must be bored...easier to catch carp

I have got one of those for the fish pond, but I havent installed it yet. Giving me ideas like this is not good. We paid around $120 for it I think, and the wife would not be happy to see it go into the shed. Maybe I could just say Eskimo told me to do it.
Good idea but I think for now, I will just keep using the air pump, that way I live to use my tools. They cost a lot more than a pump to run as well, depending on the wattage.

Do a search on the yank home shop forums. I'm sure I have read something about this some time ago.

I have a UV filter set up on my fish pond and it is awesome. It is cheap to run (i think it is a 11watt unit) and my one is a combination UV light as well as the filter elements. The light/filter assy is sized to suit the pond which is 1000 litres. They are pretty cheap to buy as well.
