Sup, i ended up not buying it from there, the $22 was for just the aluminium sheet, un cut
i ended up going to "morriset metal market", they sold me a 500x500x3 sheet for $10, which makes me wonder what sort of markup the other places have
I visited the local mens shed, and they pulled out some sheering tool, and helped me to cut it, the edges were cleaner than i thought they'd be, worked out well
i also left a small donation there before i left, and i think i have enough metal left for another project i think i'll get to down the road which is good

pictures of the hexagon? or the actual project i'm working on?
anyway, i have a metalworking related question.
to attach the LED's to the aluminium, i intend to drill 2 holes per light, and bolt them in place with some thermal compound between
my question is this
if i want to use a m3x0.5 tap to thread holes, do i drill a 3mm hole, or do i drill a slightly smaller hole, because the threads will be cut from the excess?

Sup all, quick question, i recall some sort of metalworking product, it's basically just the threads of a bolt, without a head, i was going to use them to attach the lights to the lid of the terrarium, could anyone remind me what they are called?
also, here are some pics of the sheet + working light

It's called allthread rod or you can just cut the head off a bolt. You'll probably want to use stainless steel.
