Happy Birthday Bruce.
Hope you and your had a great day.
My dad had a 1972 MGB once, only drove it on special days. On day he parked it next to my old VB Crumbadore and being so low I didn't see it in my haste reversing out the drive way. I dented and scratched one side. Mum seen me do it and told me just keep going. Lucky I did, hadn't seen the old man run like that for years.
Anyway Happy Birthday!
Ben

What a great idea for a different birthday celebration.
I hope you had a great day, the weather was kind to you.
Now go and buy a couple of lemons to suck on, they should get the grin off your face.
Happy birthday, and Merry Christmas.
Alan...

Hope I am not too late to wish you all the best and trust that it WAS a great day.
Graeme.
PS. I will reach the same milestone (imperial!) in February. Surely that isn't Sixty years since we started year 7 at Ashfield !! It seems but a moment ago ??

Hi Bruce,

Ha Ha.
Forget the MG next year Bruce. I found the ideal sport coupe. Red, nimble and the best thing, the plant is a TWO STROKE.

Thank you again
This is big thank you to all of those who kindly sent their best wishes for me on Dec 23 2013.
We picked up the MGB at 8.00 am from Lane Cove in Sydney. There are no bippers, seat belt warnings or any other electronic gadgetry, in these cars.
Got a few instructions & headed out into the traffic for the days run.
Let me just say. when I got behind the wheel of a 50 yr old car & moved out into modern fast traffic it was a test of the nerves, requiring 100% concentration.
After an hour however, all settled down & we travelled up into the mountains, the sounds of Bell Birds, Cicadas, & the smell of new mown hay was evident as these senses were not normally experienced in a modern hard top car.
The sound of the MGB 1800 cc engine was marvellous, as the rpms changed & a shift through the manual gear change as 3rd was selected on a steep winding section of road. Then as 3000 rpm was reached & a shift back to 4th gear & the trusty engine dropped back to 2000 rpm, the burble sound & the good torque was great !
It was a step back to memoriable times 50 yrs ago.
A great day & the car was reluctantly returned at 6.00pm after travelling about 300 kms.
One of these would be nice to own, but not sure if Sue my wife is as keen as me, although she made the comment, an enjoyable day.
Thanks again to all, hope you have a wonderful 2014.
regards
Bruce (now 72, but never growing up)
