Dean Smith and Grace 17" x 48"
At Bill's Machinery in Wangara. I imagine this beauty was made in the '40s. It appears to be in good nick but it is parked outside under a tall verandah. The soft focus isn't me. It's a coating of grit I imagine as a result of nearby road works. The lathe had been cared for in it's previous life. I didn't traverse the saddle. I hope someone buys it before too long but at $5000.......

I reckon $5K is rather ambitious of them Bob, especially given the amount of crap that is clearly setting the scenes for the forthcoming Adventures of Flight Rust. Don't any of these people own tarps? They expect top dollar for their machines, but won't go down to the local Bok Choy mart and spring for a $5 plastic tarp and some pieces of string

Presumably the lump sitting on the bed is the hydraulic tank & pump for the copy attachment.

a 17 X 48 is particularly desirable but they sell on ebay regularly for under $3k. For 5 it's have to have every concievable item of tooling with it and be in good order.
The fact is manufacturing is dead in aus and hobbiests want little lathes. It's like the 3 phase table saws you can pick up on ebay for $500. No buyers....I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.
