No, I just got the lathe 2 weeks ago, I never touched one before in my life..not even a wood turning lathe. I have more time cleaning it than using it. I'd really like a simple project with a nice end result so I can make something. I have just a few of the tool bits so I cant go crazy. I'd like to get a parting tool and a knurler.

I'm keeping it really simple for the time being. I'm getting myself some blanks to grind new cutters this week.
High on my list is a 160mm 4 jaw chuck and setting the lathe up for some light milling.
Regards and enjoy.

Brett32, absolutely beautiful. I love the chess set - and the candle holders too!!! Promised my son I'll teach him how to play chess and it'll be just great if I can turn a custom set for him.
Regards.

My latest really simple lathe project was a couple of machinist jacks.
Basically, tapering the end of a threaded-rod connector, and facing off the head of a bolt which threads into it (to get rid of the raised lettering).
Cheers,
Andrew
