Hi Guys,

I've spent the day playing about with a Depth Gauge that I've been given. Its quite old and apart from needing cleaning and adjusting correctly, it works exactly as expected. The only downside was that the tiny spanner or wrench was missing and the ones that I already have from the Starret and Moore & Wright Mics that I have don't fit. So I had to make one.

This is the Mic. It has the users name, W. Smith engraved on the base. Passed on to me by the original owner's Granddaughter. He was a master locksmith in Birmingham ! His Granddaughter has been giving me his tools in bit and pieces over the last few years. You can see the wrench in the box that I made this afternoon. One of the items I was given was a set of taper reamers. The smallest running from 1/8" to the large 1/2" one in 8 increments, along with a number of 1/8", 3/32", and 5/64" Whit Taps. I had no idea that Whit taps went as small as 1/8", though I already had a couple of 3/32" ones.
