If I get a chance tomorrow I will take a photo of my collection, To date I have about 70 dial and dial test indicators
YES I do have a sickness.......AND I'M PROUD OF IT

I see plenty of people who collect stamps, shells, Coke memorabilia, so on and so on.
I have a metrology fetish and enjoy collecting anything to do with it, not just dials.
I have actually gone as far as purchasing a glass fronted wall unit to display most of it. And yes it is in the shed for all my visitors to oagle and drool..

It was called a "cosine tip" it eliminates the cosine error. (Or it supposed to) It came like that.

From an undated Verdict Gauge catalogue, maybe early '70s.

Do you know the history of your Mahrs Stu? Joe's Mahr also has a hand printed dial .

The readily removable dial lends itself to handiwork.

I had a look at the big Mercer I remembered as a 5-6": it's a 3" dial face with 1" travel and 0-99 thou round the dial.

That's only half of it . You need the metric equivalents. Mahr also produced a he-man size version of these little indicators. Should be featured in the catalogue scans I posted.

    Hi BT,
I saw that you could get them in metric, but thats ok I can do the convertion in my head(then again on these sort of guage I could just do some new art work and call them metric shhhhhhhh). Most of the readings I do it doesnt matter I just want it as close to ) as I can get and pick the graduation to suit the work I'm doing. Though that may change if I ever get some of the jobs I have lined up for dail gauges done. I cant find the he-man size but its late, maybe I'm a little blind.
