    I do the same.

A few years ago I told my wife about it and she said I should ask the doctor about it on the next visit as I might have alzheimer's.
On the next visit I said to the doctor that I think I may have alzheimer's, he replied with "try to forget about it".

Seriously though, I don't know where things get to, you only have to put it down for a second and it's gone for hours or days.
As for fairy's, if they can move things why don't they clean up? that would be more of a help.

I just call the lady of the house into the shed(see I do let her in there now and again) and say "I'm looking for a blue thingie with a chrome handle and a threaded end". She replies with "you mean that thingie over there". me "yeap, thanks, you can go now" hehe

From my observations I've determined they are not there to help. Only create trouble.
One thing I have noticed about it is that the older IT gets the more items it moves around the shed so I can't find them.
