    Default Dremel help

Hi all, I have an old Dremel,(35year+) and still going strong, it does not have a threaded end like the new ones, I would like to mount it to a router table #231 but although the photo show a clamping system for it, it doesn't come with the new table, it has only the threaded nut, I was wondering if any of you guys would have this attachment that you don't use and are willing to part with it( just the tool holder which is the bit with the clamps on it as per FIG 3), I will gladly pay for it ofcourse, I have been in touch with Dremel Australia, and they no longer have it, they suggested I get in touch with Bunnings or Miter 10 and they can order the part from America, yeah that's going to work, I did search, and found Sears Direct parts have it for about US$ 6.00, but the buggers don't ship to Australia, the guy at Dremel said a lot of those tables did go out with that tool holder and they had to get them back to change them, I don't know what they did with them though, if any body can help it would be greatly apprecciated,
    Cheers, Richard.

I bought this table from Bunnings about 12 months ago. It came without the clamp. I took it back. The guy in the toolstore at Bunnings called Bosch. The man at Bosch said he new the problem and that they would post one out to me immediately.

One week later I was back at Bunnings to find out why it had not been delivered. The toolstore guy said that Bosch were a complete waste of time. He also looked me in the eye and said " Anyone that buys a Bosch product is F***ing crazy"

This prompted phone calls and emails to both Bunnings management and Bosch. Eventually I was invited to go to my local Bunnings store and take the clamp from their demo unit.

I have noticed that the demo units seem to have been removed.

    You might try here

they seem to be pretty good with Dremel stuff/

    Another option might be here:

If you know that Sears Direct can supply the part, try Price USA. They can buy the item in the US, accept local delivery there and forward it to you. Probably cost $6-8 AU above purchase price and postage but you will get what you ask for.

You will be dealing with someone based in Oz, and will get a fixed quote for the transaction up front and email advisory of order being placed, item arriving at Price USA US agent, and shipping from them, plus a range of shipping options.

Try C & L POWER TOOLS Nudgee Rd northgate, Bunnings are a waste of OXYGEN when it comes to issues with something out of the ordinary.

Alternately hound BOSCH Power Tools a few well placed calls to their customer service dept, and ask for the NAME & NUMBER for the local REP> .

I'm not sure if this will help, because features and availability seem to be in a state of flux.

The Dremel router base for overhead routing, #230 (not 231), engages the collar of the tool without removing the collar (threaded on later models). The base itself can be removed from the riser body via two screws below the base.

A later catalog indicates an upgrade to #330 with handle grips. The riser body appears identical. A still later catalog (2010-2011) indicates a plunge router attachment, #335-01, but engagement is unclear.

In any event, if you can get #230 or #330, remove the base, and attach the riser to a router table insert with two new screw holes to mate with the holes in the riser body.

I can't vouch for the state of affairs since Bosch took over Dremel, but on past occasions I've had a few pleasant dealings with Dremel HQ itself.

    Cheers,
    Joe

Thank you all for your replies,
Avery I will email My Tool Store to see what they have on theirs

I have been in contact with Bosch, and I have a part number,

I also been in touch with Oritech Pty Ltd in Melbourne and they email me back after I rang them on Friday, confirming their table has the clamp, but the guy I talked to said it did not, so I'll be ringing them on Monday again to sort that one out, so fingers crossed,

if not I will get in touch with Price USA as Malb suggested it seems a good option,

Jeff I will give C&L Power tools a call tomorrow and see what they have,

Thanks Joe, all the photos I have seen of this router table even in the catalogs show the clamp system, but that's not what is in the box , I think they all have the threaded fitting now to suit the new models,

Thanks again fellas, I will keep you posted, love this forum
