Drill Chuck, Arbor Mounting
I bought an Albrecht drill chuck from MichaelG last year. I have finally ordered and received the JT33, MT2 arbor for it. I was short of the readies.
How should I mount the arbor to the chuck? Will cooling it in the freezer (-18 deg) be sufficient to lock it in place? I could take it to work and use dry ice at about -75 deg. That may be too much tho, I think.

Dean,
All I've ever done is hold the chuck in my hand with the arbor inserted in the chuck's taper and smack the arbor in with a copper faced mallet. I've never had a chuck come loose.

Yep, clean & dry, give it a 'kiss'.

Thanks for the info Bob and Bryan. I have had one come loose, but I think that making sure both parts are clean and dry may solve that problem. I don't recall paying any special attention to that matter at the time.

I interpret clean and dry in situations like this, as clean with petrol then follow up with methylated spirits.
That should get oil-free mating surfaces.

No sweaty fingerprints either.

I am intimately aware of what sweaty fingerprints do to the windshield in cold damp weather as is normal around here.
I will avoid them.

If the arbor is of good quality cleaning will do, no heat shrinking required. If it is a not so expensive arbor, you may add some loctite to prevent it coming loose.
