Hi Simon,
Fed on here did his if I remember right.
I would go with one like this bellow that can be cut to length easy. This way you can put the read out where it's easy to see.
This on is from Australia as well so postage will be quick, a bargain at $40 posted

There has been a bit of discussion on the one that ozemstore sells on IAP, it is also sold by Grizzly.

Reports are that these DROs are very slow reading, I was going to buy some for my mill but decided to hang off when I read that.

For my quill on the DM45 I used a 150mm digital vernier, works fine, did a WIP on it somewhere.

I don't know which machine you have, but a 150mm unit fitted my RF31, in fact I needed cut about 50 mm off. Rather than stuff around with the original front plate I ditched the useless, rattly depth stop and made a new plate from scratch. And the cutesy wooden box it came in was recycled as a collet rack.

Big Shed, what is IAP ?, would like to have a read, I have 2 of these fitted to the Z and Y axis of my RF-25 and they seem to be ok.

My original question there was prompted by reports on one (or more) of the US metal working forums. Can't remember which one in particular, but I normally read HSM, HMEM, MM and HM.

Thanks Big Shed, the article talks about an erratic reading, I had that problem at the start so I removed the alluminium bar and turned it around 180 degrees (end to end, not side to side) and all worked fine, doesn't seem to be a problem with slow readings. Will post a few pics when I get a chance.

Hi all,

I had seen the one on ebay from Ozimstore Dave but now Big Shed got me spooked! I decided to go for the 150mm vertical from a UK distributor.

Also the one from CTCtools is a horizontal one, If they had have sold a vertical one then they would have had me!

Shane, you must have stopped reading after the first sentence?
