Hi Joe,
Sorry didnt mean to imply that your's wasnt a "real" DRO. I just meant my DRO V 2 seperate scales.
The only function I recall using is PCD.
I might have used cutter dia offset once............ but I cant remember the details.
Once I could have used the mutli part thing but I just did the maths instead.
I havent even used the zero ref point, I just make sure I turn the DRO off and back on with moving the axis(by turning the whole shed off and on at the panel)

Hi Simon,
Just remember when you use that scale you have bought, the accuracy is twice as good in metric than imp, but the repeatability is twice as good in imp than in metric....
I think the reason the glass scales are so much more is that they are simply far more accurate-they may only have slightly better resolution (.005mm compared to .01mm) but they claim to be accurate to .005mm, whereas the Igaging scales claim accuracy of .002" (or .025mm).
I'm still saving for a 3 axis glass unit for the Vernier.....i'll get there one day, when i run out of other distractions....

Hi Guys,
I have the same DRO but I bought mine from "Arc Eurotrade" here in the UK. I got the longer one for my mill table and made modified brackets. I don't know if you are aware but you can just cut them to any length you require with a fine hack saw. Some one said that the accuracy was better in mm than imperial and I would agree. Repeatability is less so. Try moving to and from a dead stop. There can be 5/100 mm difference.
Other than that I'm satisfied with mine and would buy them again, particularly since they are also supported by the "Android DRO" <http://www.yuriystoys.com/>Best Regards:
BaronJ.

Hi Stuart,
No need to answer that last question. I got off my backside and researched it myself!

Shumatech DRO's available
I just checked the Shumatech Yahoo group and apparently they are taking pre-orders for a new batch.
You can order them through the Shumatech website store, you'll have to create an account but no pre-payment required.
The activity on the Yahoo group indicates that orders are filling fast.
Two models, the DRO-375 which is a basic 3 axis model and the DRO-550 which is a 5 axis model with an additional LCD screen.Geoff

Had a look.
It says the 375 are out of stock. The 550 can be pre ordered but they want your money to preorder.
Either way, I think I will wait until I get my scales and just have a play for now. May do something extra at another stage, ala Android DRO or Shumatec. Not sold on the advantages of the 550 over the 375 for my particular use.
