DTI Loose Pointer
The photo shows a Mitutoyo 513-203 DTI, 0.0001 " per div.
The dial damage is me removing paint blisters, to ensure they do not obstruct the pointer.

It used to work perfectly, now you can have any number you want as the pointer stops randomly.
Got the glass off with some Workzone cloth adhesive tape, a couple of tries and off it came with a strong pull.
Took the side access cover off and I can see the spindle rotate as the lever is actuated, so the problem must be a loose pointer on the spindle.
Gentle pull with tweezers would not pull the pointer off the spindle.
Anyone with a suggestion on how to re-fix the pointer to the spindle ?
Is it possible that my conclusion is incorrect, and the problem is elsewhere ?
Keep well,
John.
