Tonight finally we are talking again:

    Dear xxxxxxxxx,

Finally a photo after you post it on the website. Is it available for pickup including the packaging materials?

    - excitement2009

    Dear excitement2009,

I emailed it before I posted it online FWIW. Of course I do not have the original packaging materials. But you are welcome to collect it.

Well, no reply from him since my last post, but he did leave this feeback for me:

Feedback: # NO COMMENT. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH. BE CAREFUL. $5 ITEM PETTY WHINGER

Leave an eBay feedback with a link to this thread!

I hate Ebay sellers that don't leave feedback after you have done your part, so for them I never leave feedback either.
If you bought and paid for the item on time they should just give you feedback on that, because thats what it's for, not hold off until you leave feed back or use it to barter with you.
The ebay system should be set up that they have to give you feedback within 24/48 hours of paying for an item, not after it arrives.

This guy is a joke and wont be getting my business. To disguise a tool in paper when you knew it was rust is just scamming buyers. It may only be small money but the tool is useless even for free.
Next he will probably sell a car with no motor in it, but because he never had a picture with the bonnet open, or stated it ran good, you would be whinger because you cant drive it away.

Sellers cannot leave neg feedback anymore for buyers so I was covered there, but still, he is behaving like a real weiner. I did add a comment to my feedback with a suggestion to google 'another ebay fur ball' because you can't put a link on ebay feedback.

I just don't get why he is clinging to the notion that he is within his rights to cheat a buyer out of $8 just because it is small change.

Oh well, I posted this as awarning about Mr Excitment. His own words have served that aim I think.

    Hi GQ,

I wonder about ebay sellers who are trying to run a business with absolutely no skill in how to provide customer service.

All that guy had to do was acknowledge the problem, and offer a refund. Instead he denied the problem existed, invented weird excuses and then became abusive...

He won't be in business long at that rate.. and with internet forums like this bad news travels fast...

Douglass Adams envisaged a space ship powered by bad news, it was the fastest thing in the galaxy, problem was that no-one was happy to see them when they arrived...

Oh that's right Greg, I forgot about that. Not even neutral anymore?

Douglas Adams is by far my favourite author, I just constantly giggle when re-reading his books. Sadly his imagination is something that can never be transferred to the screen. A sad loss at a young age.

Some years ago my (current) wife and I made great plans for a weekend away. We made the mistake of checking out some Doug Adams audio books from the
library for the drive. We ended up just driving out and back listening to one particularly compelling naration. We ended up having one of our best days together, spa or not.

GQ, jet lagged, trying to come up with some algebra that equals 42, but apparently doomed to abject failure.

That doesn't matter, as long as you still know where your towel is...

Dammit, now I've got to listen to the Guide again.

Default Paypal comes to the party...

This is the sole reason I use PayPal. Well, that and it is easy and instant for international transactions:

    "Dear Greg Q,

We have concluded our investigation into your case and have decided in your
    favour.

We were able to recover $8.00 AUD, and this amount has been credited to
you. Please allow five business days for this adjustment to be posted.

If you are due any additional funds, we will make our best effort to
recover the balance from the seller.

If the seller's account has insufficient funds to complete the refund owed
to you, please be assured that we will take appropriate action against the
seller's account, which may include limitation of the seller's account
    privileges."

So: case closed. Anyone need an almost morse 2/almost jacobs 3 punch?

    That's a great result.
How did you get them to issue a refund without having to send the item back?

The seller never responded to my dispute, nor did he give Paypal an answer to their request for info. I gave Paypal a link to this thread but I imagine the dispute was settled by robot without human involvement at any stage.

Stuart and Harty were over today, and I couldn't get either of them to take it home, frightened as they are of contracting flight rust.
