Thanks BB,
I await the reply with interest. No particular hurry.
Staying with the Deckel drawbars is best for me, because it fits the tooling I do have, including the horizontal arbor, and some collets.
Re the adapter bolts, the M16 to S20 version that fits BT40 tooling is a bit cheaper here knob M16 to S20 x 2 compatible with ISO40-RCDGS16/20
Cheers,
Bill

Well, as I said, my machine isn't a Deckel, it's Romanian. So I don't expect there to be any spares at any price, which makes life easier. I am toying with the idea of making a riser block similar to that but until I pull the machine down a bit to get some measurements on gear sizes/pitch etc, I can't make the pattern let alone machine it. Right now I have a simpler solution and am too busy to entertain that either. I don't need to badly enough as I have 3 other mills. Mind you I nearly maxed out the B/port Z travel the other day so maybe I should make a riser block for it too.....
WRT standardising on 5/8-11 40 taper tooling, hold that thought. It'll last just as long as it takes for you to find a screaming great deal on M16 thread 40 taper tooling and then you'll be right where I am now..... with a pile of adaptors.
As a matter of (limited) interest, a member on Practical Machinist sent me a scan of the manual for my mill. Unfortunately in German but hey, the drawings etc are readable by me. Standard was horizontal arbors in 16, 22, 27 & 32mm. No 1" so at least I know it didn't go missing anywhere. If I got really stuck I could machine an adaptor sleeve and use the 22mm arbor I suppose, but I definitely want a 1" one if available as life would be a lot simpler thus.
