Have fun there Greg, and if you have the chance, a nice photo pictorial of the people and machines would be great. 'Dunno what you mean about rust, I thought it would be all gleaming paintwork and polished brass.

G’day ,
As requested here’s a few photos from the Guildford rally on the weekend. The weather turned out great against all expectations and there was a lot of good stuff on show.
As for rust vs. shiny, well it’s all in the eye of the beholder.
A restored engine with glossy paint and polished brass and steel is very nice but an engine that’s more than a hundred years old and still running as it came out of the shed can be just as special.
Here’s a couple of examples of what was on show:

Photos 1 & 2 are all spit shined and ready for a night out on the town.
Photo 3 is just out of the shower and ready for a quiet night at home.
Photos 4 & 5 are still in their working clothes and sweating hard.

I dunno about you but I love em all.

That's a little ripper TKO.
I love the miniature Wico maggy, I am guessing it uses a piezo igniter to generate the spark?
I have just started working on a model engine myself, here's a photo of the base casting and the fixture I used to hold it while I milled the bottom flat.
This is going to be a long term project but I hope I can get it done within the next year.

Thanks Dean and Greg, I should of re sized the first pic, it has no castings is all fabricated,has a 42 mm bore and a cast iron cylinder,runs the same as a car, petrol coil ignition, coil is in the cavity under neath the fly wheel base,this pic ist the one I made at first from Peter Bucknell's plans I did not like the petrol tank as it was,so I made a brass round one on a stand which was in the first pic, I posted and altered the exhaust pipe to a smaller one,these two pics are are built from the original original plans,,I hope I have not posted this in the wrong place.

Hi Greg I forgot to ask you what model engine you are building.

G'day Eddie,
It's called a Billabong engine and was designed by a mate of mine named Len Hopcroft from Robinvale.
He made all of the patterns himself and even had a crack at doing the castings but in the end got them done at Billman's foundry in Castlemaine.
It's has a low tension ignition and is throttle governed but I am thinking of trying to modify the design a little and make it hit and miss.
Here's a picture of one of Len's completed engines.

I think the size of the picture was fine. When I look at picture attachments, I open them in a new tab. This is much easier as I can go back to the post by changing tabs. They open, sized to fit the page. I can then enlarge them if I want to. The enlarged picture showed the workmanship, even better. I would love to have the time to do this sort of thing. My shed time, usually involves something that I need to make for one reason or another.

the Rowville is 16/1/2 inches long.

I’m not sure of the overall length but the flywheels are 11” in diameter.
This is a bit of a bugger as my lathe will only swing 10” so I’ll have to get creative on the mill when it comes time to machine the flywheels.
