    Default Engravers "cushion?"

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone would have any idea where I could get hold of an engravers "cushion". Something I can rest small metal items on while I engrave them so they don't move about. Getting sick and tired of repairing holes in the "cotton sack filled with rice" that I have been using

    Default Cushion

    Hi,
Engravers cushions I haven't done but something similiar is a shooters sandbag.
Sand goes in one of those thick bags they give me at the bolt shop.
Save some airspace and seal up with glue gun.

Use the leg of a pair of old denim jeans ,sewn up
If you want it tougher put some canvas over it.
    cheers

I knocked up a leather 'doughnut' for my engraver's vice. Not putting a hole in the middle would give you a cushion.

just use the leather from the top of an old pair of welding gauntlets and attach to cotton bag full of rice its soft enough and adds strenth ....I reuse recycle and work with the KISS method

A solution was closer to hand than I thought. My wife is a body piercer so I stole.... ERRR I mean BORROWED the piece from her massage table that you can remove to put your face though.

    Perfect.

Thanks for the ideas though everyone.
