ER 32 chuck question
Here comes another newbie questionI notice that when a collet is inserted into the R8 / ER 32 chuck , and the nut is done up, there are only 1.75 turns before the nut tightens down onto the collet and that's it... seems rather odd that such a short thread holds the collet in. Have others noticed that ? I sourced both the chuck and the collets from CTC . MIKE

Have you fitted the nut to the collet before screwing the nut onto the chuck nose? If you have a play with it you will see that the nut fits over an eccentric on the collet nose, do this and then screw it onto the chuck before putting your endmill in to the collet.

I think Will, beat me to it, you have to "pop" the collet into the nut, have a look and you will see a ring that is cut around the collet.

Ray
EDIT: Just checked I get about 6 or 7 turns before it tightens.
