Default Facemill that uses 100 degree inserts

The CCMT CCGT 80 degree inserts have proven their worth, but after a while you end up with a number of inserts that still have two good 100 degree corners,

So has anyone seen a 100 degree insert facemill?

Don't know about the face mill, but 'one day' I'm going to make 2 lathe holders so I can use up the 100° corners for rough turning or facing.

Is there much difference between the two in use? The 'M' AND 'G' denote accuracy with 'G' being the more accurate of the two. I guess it's just a repeatability thing??

It's not so much the M or G, its the 80 degree diamond shape that's important.

Here's one of the Dorian versions.

Still looking, I'd ideally like NT30 arbor.

Haha... Not if you load the whole edge up

Seriously though Ireferenced the SCBCR and SCKCR holders in the CCMT thread. They definitely come in handy and I use them heaps. Having a completely different use rather than doubling up on tools makes more sense though.

I'm thinking I'll chase up a set of those as well as the face mill...

This bloke sells a pair of lathe tool holders that let you use both profiles.

On the surface of it that seems like a screaming deal, 2 holders and 10 CNMG inserts for $80

His prices on ER16 threading inserts don't seem too bad either.

Price is amazing, unfortunately the insert size is wrong for me... they are for 4 ( 12mm) sized inserts, I'm using 3's ( 9mm)

Found this SCKCR which will take the CCGT 09 inserts, on the 100 degree side. Be interesting to see if it's any good at that price... the blurb says it's made from metal.. that's got to be better than plastic or wood, surely....

I'm disappointed to see that you are selling this fine piece of tooling short Ray -

    Description:

    • Made from metal material, tough for milling use. Fit for most lathe.
    • Used for cutting, and precise milling.
    • Suitable for cutting stainless steel, cast iron, cast steel, forging steel, alloy steel material, make it more glossy and remove blank.
    • Easy to use by welding.

That's what I've been trying to do... make it more glossy...

Can't help the blank look tho.

The "Easy to use by welding" bit has me wondering just how they manage that I must say
