Fexac model UP milling machine
I've just bought a Spanish made Fexac model UP universal mill, it's in pretty good nick. I got a dividing head, rotary table and a heap of tooling with it.
I got it from the company I work for, they closed the workshop years ago and this amongst a whole heap of other stuff has been in storage since.
I got it very cheap at $200. It is however missing the horizontal arbor and supports, anyone know where I might be able to find such things? A manual would be handy too!

Another $200 Mill!
Wow, looks like i have lost my badge! (i bought a similar sized French Vernier mill for $200 earlier this year)
Nice machine, good to get all the extra's.
I would think the supports would have to be made, you can buy arbors from a number of places online.
Cheers,

Nice bit of gear Sir Roh,
I don't think this clip is showing the same model ( the head looks different ) but the arbor supports look "reasonably" simple. Fexac Universal Milling Machine - YouTube
They appear to have sight glasses suggesting oil reservoirs.

Some nice photos for the rest of us here -

Cheers, that one in the video has an interesting head, the one in the link to Greys online is the later version of the same model as mine. Going by the ID plates, mine was made in 78 the one in Greys was made in 82.
I also scored a Soco 315mm cold saw with a couple of spare new blades, an old McPhersons manual broaching press with a heap of keyway broaches and dies and a Plymovent welding fume extraction unit, all for another $50.
The beauty of being in the engineering project and maintenance services game is you often get a chance at stuff before it gets released into the wild and the dealers and scrapies get their dirty greedy little mits on it!
All the stuff from that workshop has been sold of to us employees now.
But I've hear that another workshop that we manage is closing down soon, so I hope to get in there and have a good sniff around before all the other buggers get in there.
I missed out on one recently where the whole maintenance machine shop of a large manufacturing plant was sold to one of our blokes for $6,000! I've been in that shop and it was all good stuff, worth a hell of a lot more that he paid for it.

APEX Machinery can definantly help you with the arbour.
And quite possiably with the supports as well.
Once you go for a wander through the place you will understand exactly why I say that..
If you do go, Just tell Derek Big Matt from Bairnsdale sent you in and I'm sure he will look after you..
Now I know this has to be said,
I am in no way an owner or affiliated with APEX Machinery, other than an extremely happy customer, And found that Derek(the owner) and I get on very well..

Really nice machine,
Congratulations on getting a great machine and at that price, it's not even scrap value.

Those MIA arbor supports are probably in a cupboard somewhere. Put the word out with everyone else who bought stuff. I reckon they will turn up if you are quick.

Nah unfortunately back then when they closed that workshop they only had labourers sorting out the stuff, the idiots thew out heaps of good stuff because they didn't know what it was and they were too stupid and lazy to ask. Mind you that's managements fault for being too tight to have a fitter supervise things.
For instance one of the idiots threw out all the tracks for a auto oxy/acet straight line plate cutter, but kept the machine, so the company went out and bought @ 4 lengths of new track. The funny thing is about 2 yrs later someone knocked off the machine but didn't take the tracks, so I scored the new and unused tracks as I happen to own the same model machine.
But here, as I've been in charge of the recent asset audit of this storage facility, I knew exactly what was here. So I know what went where, nothing left this place without me checking it out first.

Hi sir rohis,
You had better put some of the pics up of all that tooling you scored. And the hercus fans might like your lathe (i was looking at you photo bucket pics last night)
Is it just me or does the spindle only being 3hp seem a bit small? Or maybe I'm just power hungry now.....
With all that tooling you definitely got a better buy than me, the machine score of the year is all yours.......
Cheers,

Nice score .
I have a Fexac too, pretty sure mine's a UP model. They're a good strong versatile machine and I'm happy with mine, not surprisingly I paid a fair bit more for it than you did .
Mine didn't come with the dividing head (got sold off separately in the auction from what I heard), but I do have the vertical, slotting, and all angle heads, and the horizontal supports.
I don't have a manual but Fexac is still in business so you could always email them about getting a copy.
You're welcome to drop in and measure up the horizontal supports if you are looking at making some.
Cheers

No problem SirRohis.
I'm in the SE suburbs, Hughesdale (next to Oakleigh), the mill is down at my factory in Moorabbin.
I had a look at it yesterday and it's actually a UM model which I think is a bit bigger than the UP model you've got, you are still welcome to come and have a look at the design of the supports if you want, but there's probably not much point measuring them up.
Just send me a PM and I'll give you the details.
Here's a pic of it.
