Default Just finished my Brother In-law wedding ring

Hay guys thought I'd post some pics of a wedding ring I offered to make for my brother In-law. He decided he wanted to go ahead with it only 4 weeks before the wedding. I made mine a few year ago out of Titanium and gold, I got a jeweler to do the gold section. I spoke to the jeweler before I made it, about how he wanted to do the gold section and he wanted to expand the titanum out to the gold band and he wanted a test ring to do it with first as he didn't know weather the titanium would crack. Any way mine turned out well.
My Brother In-law just wanted a plain Titanium ring with no embellishments I came up with an Idea of a wide pitch threaded grove over the curved edge. I made an aluminum one first and sent it to him to try and see if he liked it (he did). He hasn't seen how it turned out in titanium as yet, I'll give it to him on the day.

Here are a few pics. The last one is of his and mine, a you can see mine i a bit dull now

Nice work Germs, are you a jeweller by trade? How'd you go parting off the ring from the billet? Did you put a internal curve on the ring and then buff it up? How much did the Ti billet cost? Sorry about the questions, I've always thought about making a ring myself but never got around to it.

Nice work, he should be happy with that.
I made 2 matching ones out of stainless steel a few years back for our anniversary.

Hi Ben, no not a jeweller I over engineer and make things too solid to be a jeweller (I did design my wife's wedding ring too) I'm a Fitter Machinist by trade. I've added a drawing I did up before making it to get the proportions right, the rings grove is a bit deeper than the drawing so makes a full 360. The drawing is done in Solid works. As you can see it has a curve on the inside. I polished it up in the lathe and buffing wheel before parting it off then held it in the lathe with tape to protect it, for the other side shaped and polished it and then re buffed it on the wheel. the Titanium was a bit of scrap from work, 1" round. Mine was out of a scrap piece of plate that one of the welders tiged onto a round tube for me to turn down. The small piece of plate I could only get 3 out of so one for test and one as spare. only needed the two so gave the other to a mate to have a go them selves.
