This is a trap for the newcomers to the 'Solar Panel' world. Around 8 years ago, solar panels were fitted to the roof of a nearby house, the roof is made from Gal. coated corrugated iron sheets , nearby there is a Eucalypt forest that drops leaves everywhere. Over time, the leaves have jammed under the panels and have rotted down into a corrosive compound of some kind. Corrosion has eaten the roof sheets with holes in many places . Apparently 'Colour Bond' type sheets don't have this problem, it's only the older Gal. sheets that suffer. Gal. gutters rot out the same way, gum leaves attack the Gal. coating and your gutters are toast.

Don't know about Zinc Alum coated sheets . Are they immune from this problem ?
