    Default Graysonline and Thieving Buggers

A couple off weeks back now I won a nice metric Mitutoyo dial bore indicator, 35-60 mm perfect for the Go Kart motors I play with, not too bad a price for a virtually unused piece of kit, apart from the 25% add on for Grays and GST. Not quite sure how that works for second hand items. Anyway I go to collect and it turns out some low life has nicked the entire contents of the plastic case , don't know how that could have happened I only left a couple of blokes in the room to collect their gear, thats from the owner of the items. I was less than happy and voiced this to Grays as they had let someone steal my property and I would like it replaced. Bad luck we will refund your money, you should get it all back. I would hope so, anyway I question them for my lost time, inspection and then pickup, bad luck. After another 3 calls to Grays and a week and a half later they refund my money.

So to who ever stole my gear, not that I am saying the person is a member of the forum, I hope somewhere out there there is a big counter with +ve and -ve building up in the -ve against you.
    Cheers
    Bruce

Yes Bruce, I fully understand your disappointment with the turn of events, but unfortunately we have to live with the fact that there are low life individuals out there, and also corporate identities like Grays while getting annoyed with such happenings are not likely to lose any sleep over the angst it causes their buyers. I hope that nothing like it happens to you again,

Sorry to hear about your rough deal.

As for the 25%, that's their commission.

GST inclusive or exclusive on Grays?

Auctions can be conducted on a GST 'inclusive' or 'exclusive' basis. Grays provides this information on the lot description page so you aware of this prior to bidding on an item.
    Inclusive GST Sales
When an auction is listed as GST 'inclusive', this simply means that the bid price has the GST percentage already included. You do not need to add the additional cost to your invoice. It is important to note that the Buyer's Premium and freight charge if applicable is GST inclusive.
We sell assets on behalf of a Vendor, if the Vendor is registered for GST purposes then we may charge GST on those items.
    Exclusive GST Sales
When an auction is GST 'exclusive', you will need to pay GST as well as the bid price. The GST is a percentage of the bid price. You will also need to pay GST on the Buyer's Premium in a GST 'exclusive' sale. Therefore when looking at GST exclusive sales, remember you need to add GST to the bid amount, buyer's premium and freight.
    GST Free Sales
Occasionally Grays Online will auctions items that are GST free, the final bid price will not include a GST component. To view if the buyer's premium and freight has a GST component or not, please refer to the lot description for further information.

With Grays their pick ups a doggy!!!
Get there early the first day Of pick up.
Heaps of #### goes missing, wrong lot numbers the works.
Auctions and garage sales... Keep your wits about you. And be prepared to push in line and fight for service, there is a group of people out there that buy from grays that are underhand and crafty, but not like a fox, more like a thief crafty.

We once had a garage sale and I witnessed several items being stolen! For f&@ks sake, the items were only two bucks!

And this mob have the hide to say you can only pick up items on certain days and have to have the receipt etc....

The auction I attended a couple of weeks back the auctioneer said at the start, if you buy it, you look after it...

A lesson I learnt was not to go to a private auction sale without means to carry things. I thought I did well on some stuff that nobody else seemed to want, but I had to return home to fetch the trailer. The awful thought occurred to me that it may have been the vendor who swiped it!

Not a a good tale to have to tell. It does seem that Grays make the process quite difficult for pick up etc. and yet they are so lax in preventing theft.

The add-on costs are another issue all together. All you can say is that they do make this clear in their conditions. However it is important to work out the final cost compared to your bidding price. I think they normally do give an example based on $100.

I have moved away from their auctions because of their "style."
