I have a power drawbar for my Tormach on the way too, it was sent on the 23rd of July and other than the tracking number saying its on it's way I haven't heard a thing! The USPS website says 6-10 days and there dosen't appear to be any way to query what is going on? You would think that since the US is in dire straits they would want our money and keep the parcels moving!

Much the same here, except mine was sorted in San Fran on July 18th. I assume that means it's left the country. That was after they sat on it for 2 weeks. It would still be there if I hadn't prodded the seller to prod them. Now it's vanished. They must be flying over the bermuda bloody triangle!

Never had much luck with cast iron repairs, hence the interest in filler. Although most of the stuff I've tried bunging back together sees high temps.

I spent the whole afternoon KabelSchlepping. It took me that long to make one wiper - and that was the flat one!
That pretty blue urethane is one slick, tough material though. If I can get the fit right I think they will work very well.
Stuart, sorry, no idea.

With USPS planning to cut 120,000 jobs I guess our waiting will be even longer. I'd paid for a Tesa made Brown and Sharpe micrometer with the same geared head as your Tesa Bryan, on the 8th of July. It was shipped via Priority mail. For over 5 weeks the tracking information stated that it had left Chicago on the 18th of July.
I lodged a Paypal claim then ramped it up to a dispute. I knew the seller had posted it and it appeared as if USPS had lost it. I tried to email USPS but their online claims form can only be completed by those in the US. Helpful! I thought, why should I be out of pocket for a postal cock up. The micrometer arrived on Tuesday.
I waiting for a Dumore part that I paid for nearly 5 weeks ago. Looks like I'm not an orphan.
Bob.

Bob, that's kind of good news. I will wait a bit longer before raising hell. Sure takes the shine off shopping stateside though.
Are you going to show us your mike?

Well my toolpost finally arrived. Have to say I'm pretty underwhelmed by the quality. Wishing I'd bought a used Aloris for similar money.

Do you have your camera close by?
What did make you opt for a République de Chine version of the Aloris rather than a good used version of the real thing?

Bob, it seemed like a good idea at the time. I had bid on an Aloris and missed out. I'd kind of had enough of the auction rat-race and figured I'd just buy a new one, get it faster (ha!) and not have the risk of it being rooted. Now I'm in that familiar position - I think I will call it China Syndrome - of not being happy with what I've bought, but not wanting to send it back, because I will have paid for 2 lots of postage, which equals the cost of the item. I could take pics but you wouldn't see the the crapulence. It actually looks quite good. It just feels like a can of rusty nails. Dave I couldn't bring myself to sell it on. I think the only solution - as usual - is to rebuild the bloody thing and make it servicable. I have only myself to blame.

I would contact the seller and tell them it is below quality, you never know you might get a discount. It would only cost you a few minutes of your time to right to them.

I'd bought a used Swiss Boni toolpost on Ebay. I'd never had a quick change tool post so I thought it was the ant's pants. Then I found another Boni with 6 tool holders and when it rolled up I realised the two holders that came with the first tool post were ring ins. The originals are nickel plated and nicely machined. The others had an agricultural air about them. Like a lot of this stuff, it takes experience and expenditure to sort out the good from the not so good. These forums faciltate the sharing of knowledge with the hope that we can make better informed decisions when we choose to buy. I'm out of my depth as far as Chinese QCTP's go but I'm up with Boni's. Just a matter of asking the the right bloke the question. Hence the camera question. If you have to rebuild the thing, I'm sure others would be keen to view the procedure.
Whilst I'll most probably never own one, I'd still be interested in the way in which you tackle the task.
