    Default guestimate on mill weight?

    G'day All
There is a distinct possibility that I will be moving again soon and where I'm going to I won't be able to get a crane truck close to where I hope to install the mill. Getting it to driveway is no problem with the crane truck but not up the back yard.
The site is uphill and over grass to get to it.
    Options I suppose are,
    1) Try and find someone local with an all terrain fork who can take it to the shed (this might be a problem as it has to go through a carport to get there. The carport is fairly high but if its high enough is something I don't know at this point.
    2) Dissassemble the mill and use my trailer to get it up the back yard.
This leads me to my question. The mill is a HAFCO bridgeport clone and assembled it weighs 1000KG.
Does anyone have any idea how much the main body would weigh with the head, ram etc and table removed?
    thanks

Probably around or just under 500kg in the config you're talking about with the bits you've mentioned removed.

They're pretty easy to move about dismantled, even on grass and rough terrain.

Remember to put a block of timber under the knee and lower it onto the block to take the weight off the vertical leadscrew nut

Best of luck with the move

    Cheers
    Jon
