Hafco Taps & Dies
Has any body had experience with the Taps & Dies (UN & Metric) sold by Hafco. They have two types for the Metric (Alloy and HSS) and only alloy for the UNC/F.
Cheers

Get HSS as the alloy ones break easy - usually in a critical part or when you drop them on the floor.
I have the metric set of HSS from H&F and they are good. I don't use UN so can't comment.Cheers,

It would be useful if you could buy a mixed set. I don't recall ever breaking a carbon steel tap bigger than about 3/8". I usually break those 1/8" cheap carbon steel taps, Maybe I'll get myself some individual sets of 1/8" in HSS. The other day I dropped a Carbon Steel M6 die onto my bench from about 20cm and a bit chipped off it, still cuts an OK thread.
