Thread: How much can I hang off a couple of tee slots?

Nope to stubborn for that.
Spent some of today scraping the first two parts(still joined together) flatish. Scraping steel seems to go ok. Some shaper time tomorrow

I picked this grinder up cheap(although I did pay the guy 2.5 times what he asked). I could have just taken the spindle out and made a new mount, but I figured the slide would be handy for fine adjustment. We'll see I guess.

I think somones just using a belt he hand handy, maybe they arent that bad insideout?
Just to the right of the gray label there is an arm with a pin(I assume something is missing). Think it might be for some sort of tensioner or something to stop the belt flapping about? Time to flip through the pdfs I have on these things again.
I would have thought flat belt would be better than Vee belt but mine has Vee.

Not sure what "missing tool holder" is about.

Thanks Ray, but with a 160mm wheel it's a lot bigger than I am looking for.

Dave may have come up with a winner this afternoon. Change the tee blots to tee nuts. Then I can have as many as I like.
I'll keep going as I am now but may cut the end off once I've finished if I'm happy 4 or more tee nuts will do the job. So along the lines of Daryls idea, its a long nut, its just in two or more parts lol.

Getting a little better at this scraping game(well at least I think so lol). Not playing around so much early on. Go HARD, its unlikey you will go to far. This piece is about 650x100mm
I'm thinking my mill needs a bit of work, but it will have to wait its turn lol.
No yellow canode used, thats just some strange light/camera effect.

I am tired just looking at all that work, LOL.

It will be interesting to see it mounted and how it performs, like you said they are good spindle bearing in it so the finish should be really nice.

Looks good. Are you using the Bunnix (or is yours the Aldix?) or scraping by hand? I bought myself a cheap ozito the other day, only has 12mm stroke to start with. I'm yet to pull it apart and see what needs to be done.....
I am yet to test Mlls capabilities when it comes to flatness yet.....after 40 years i doubt it will be great.

If the grinder turns out to be too big i'm sure i could fit it on the LeBlond..

I "think" I can remove more in one pass manually than with my Bunnix(without losing track of where blue was that is). But I'm to soft to do pass after pass that hard manually. So I go hard manually where there is blue and then go over the "general area"+a bit of the manaul scraping with the Bunnix.
Seems to be working ok so far.

I dont recall what the standard stroke on my Bunnix is. I'll check tomorrow. It now has variable stroke which I also cant recall. I really should have a play with that while I'm just hoeing in. It might be in my scraper thread. 12mm would be plenty I think.

Well now that didnt go very well at all. I'd always thought black bar was pretty stable with you machine it. I guess there's stable and there's stable. Anyway I when from this to this when I machined the back face. DTI reads +.21 -.10 -.5. so if I knock a lazy 0.18mm off each end it should be good . Then I just have to do the other side.

Well the 12mm stroke on the Bunnix works wonders. Forget what I said about moving more material manually.
Six or seven cycles to this.(though I think there must have been something fishy about my measurements)

I would not have thought hot rolled MS would do that....cold rolled maybe.
I'm glad the 12mm stroke works well, at least i know i'm in the ballpark with the ozito(ix).

Yeah, thats what I thought.

Are you going to make an adjustable stroke? If not I think I would go with 6mm. Thought 12mm reaaly shifts some material. I was to sore to go on with the manual cycles lol
