Was that supposed to be a sales pitch or the machines eulogy?

Harrison lathes are still made today, although i'm not sure where. There was a really nice M300 (i think) that sold last year at the local Grays Uni auction. it fetched about 5k from memory.

ha ha yes he wasn't your ideal salesman

I have a 1958 L5 model 9" swing . The little Sheraton needs a rest , so I am bringing the L5 into use by fitting a 3 phase motor and VFD .

A few pics . The universal motor mount and the headstock brake/clutch unit and the dog clutch on the leadscrew . The leadscrew is a hefty 1 -1/8" diam.

The power feed shaft has a collision spring loaded clutch . Mike

I get the feeling Harrison were one of Colchesters main competitors..

All moot now, since they are all owned by 600 Machinery and have been for a long time..
