Heat Treatment On Warped Flat Bar
Thought I would seek opinions from the Forum on whether to heat treat a bit of 1020 100x12mm Flat Bar that has warped about 2mm across 1410mm. I had to mill out a 50x110mm section to be able to use it on a job I have done upgrading a Punch for punching Busbar.
I knew that there would be some warping but it has gotten worse. One plan is to bolt on two parallel bars and use all-thread bar and nuts to pull square.
I would like opinion on whether heat treating the bar to take out some of the stress would be beneficial or just add to the problem, some here may have experienced problems like this or have other suggestions.
I include some pictures so you can see the application and the warping

A press would be the go but if you don't have one you could try heating it on the outside of the the radius of the bend and quenching it with a wet rag to shrink that side, maybe a few times if needed.
Getting your steel stress relieved first can help avoid this sort problem.

Just clamp it and bend it cold.
Stress reieiving it now will probably just leave it as bent or worse.
