transport
Hi. .............If you can somehow manage to get wheels under it ... it will cost much less to move it . Anything that requires a crane will cost megabucks to move - so I would spend some time and make a set of heavy duty wheels to mount it on . Then you can winch it on and off a trailer with cables and ramps. Its likely to be top heavy ..so you need to be very careful . Is it possible to dissasemble it to some degree ? MIKE

I suppose it depends on what your definition of medium size is...
To me medium size would be anything up to ten tonnes....Light red, the colour of choice for the discerning man.

ok
Peter I managed to move my Sheraton myself..it was mounted on a heavy steel base , 300kg isnt too heavy . I used a chain block and lifted the whole thing by a roof truss. But I strengthened the truss by fixing two 8" thick bush poles either side of the trailer , between the truss and the floor ... We used large pipes under it to roll it near the trailer ..then i lifted it and backed the trailler under it ...

How far does it have to travel, we know its coming from Dandenong, where’s it heading too? And can they load it at the place you bought it from?
I wouldn’t trust a general courier. Those guys scare me. Crane truck will set you back big dollars unless you know someone.
Regards Phil.

Hi thorens,
How far is it going?
I've used a guy around that area with a crane truck. He charges $100 an hour, 3 hour min.

O.K If they can load that end. Do you have a trailer, or can borrow one? Its totally across town so couriers / crane trucks are out.
300 kilos is engine hoist territory. Any one you know have one? Supercheap Auto have them cheap, regardless of how crappy, they should eat 300 kg’s. Kennard’s and the like have them for hire.
What’s it like where you are unloading it? Under cover, any decent beams available for a block and tackle.
Regards Phil.

The super cheap engine crane will have no problems with a 300kg lathe and it could just be as simple as a trailer job. I have moved my 1.2t jointer with the engine crane and a tandem trailer without a problem.
The first time i moved it was with some mates but since then I have managed to do it easily by myself. Make sure you have some good lifting slings and try and keep the load as low as possible. Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. An engine crane and a trailer and you could do it your self no problems, 300 kg is light for a machine and a standard box trailer will handle that no problems. Even if you know someone with a ute/tray top.
