Racetadpole expressed an interest in my DIY Motorised Head Raising/lowering install.

The motor is a 115VDC Gearmotor I found at work. I wanted to use DC as I thought it would simplify the install.
I made a 110VDC unregulated but smoothed output power supply and some contactors salvaged from work as well.
I used toothed pulleys so I could vary the speed , if required. Not found the need. It is a little slow but overshoot is minimal so have not felt the need to change it.

It works pretty well. I see that new units use a motor on top of the column to drive the shaft. That might be ba better way to go...dunno.
