HM 46 milling machine
can any owner of a HF46 tell me the number of threads on the draw bar? H & F say 1/2 inch whitworth but there seems to be
some confusion over 12 or 13 tpi for whitworth, my collet chuck is M12 so I was looking at one at CTC which is 13tpi so before buying
I would like to know what the drawbar is 12 or 13tpi
Leroy.

Hi Leroy,
If your collet chuck has an M12 thread, a length of 12mm all thread, a couple of nuts (1 pinned to the shaft) will do the job, I have been using one for 2 years now without any problems.

Martin

1/2 BSW is 12tpi
1/2 UNC is 13tpi
As martin says you need as many draw bars as you have threads in your holders
I doubt you will find anything from CTC in BSW, let me know if you do, most of my holders are 1/2 BSW, one is M12 and just to round it off the clamp kit is 1/2UNC.

ok thanks for the info. I guess I'll just thread up a length of rod to suit,
I don't have the mill yet, I'm waiting for the H&F sale in november, hope the discount
is worth the wait,
Leroy.
