the reason for getting a triangle hole is nothing to do with clamping its because the cutting angle is too large, you need to sharpen the drill so that the cutting angle gives you a size from the tip of the drill to where it starts cutting full diameter smaller than the plate thickness. drills can be sharpened to cut all sorts of materials and alo all sorts of applications.....
