Home anodising
Hi fellow metalworkers.
I'm exploring the possibility of home anodising some small parts---BLACK.
They are knobs etc for rifle scopes.
I can't find anywhere that sells small amounts of genuine dye, and so maybe someone has some experience with the process, and knowledge with where I could obtain some please.
I have seen some youtube posts using dilute sulphuric acid for the electrolyte, after a hot wash in NaOH, and I imagine I will need a controlled low amp current that's 'smooth direct'.
That may not be the 'proper', description---its only my high school physics talking---so any help will be appreciated, as will any info on some inexpensive set up for the power.
thanks as always for your knowledge
warm regards
Brian
