I read somewhere the table is 1700 x 350 but it didn't seem to be that long when I looked at it, not that I measured it.

No 3 phase power for me sadly. Its got a 7.5hp clutched spindle motor and maybe a 3hp power feed motor. I have a 7.5hp motor in my lathe running off a VFD so i will probably just set it up so I can run either machine off the VFD assuming I can modify this motor for 240V. I had problems with the VFD tripping when the clutch was engaged on the lathe and had to fiddle how it starts to make it work so may have to do the same here. Although I might try fitting a flywheel to the motor first and see if that helps.

Not sure what to do with the power feed motor though... maybe another VFD or perhaps a single phase motor. I didn't pay attention to how it works so need to have a look again. On the way home I realised it could be a 2 speed motor for the rapid traverse which would make it interesting. A VFD would be good, except for the slow ramp up time assuming its direct drive. Anyway might just be manual feed for a while.

I think it already has a davit thing to for lifting the vertical head, but its only now that you mention it that I realise what its for.

Anyway won't be able to pick it up for a few weeks. The guy has it right down the back where you can't get access with machinery so he is going to get it out to the driveway for pickup. He has to go all egyptian and use sleepers and bits of pipe to roll the thing across his backyard.. which is what I'm probably going to have to do as well to get into position in the shed.

I have a couple more photos of the beast to tide me over till its sitting in my shed.

    Thanks for the pics.
That's one decent fly cutter on the table! Looks like a 50 taper? Maybe 50 horizontal and 40 vertical? The speed range looks good too, if what I read is correct the vertical gears up 2:1 so you'll get 1550, a very useful top speed for both smaller carbide and small hss tools.
You will probably find trying to use the machine with no power feed a right pita, even if it is in good nick the weight of the table means the z will be a fine feed and take forever to move any decent amount. There is also the physical size problem, if you need to move the x to a mark the end of the table and the handwheel is so far away you can't see to line up your marks. Even if you have to live without rapid the top feed speed should be pretty fast.

    Cheers

Yeah horizontal taper is a 50 and the vertical is a 40.

I agree the fly cutter is pretty impressive and is part of the tooling that comes with it... bonus. Think I might call it the decapitator.

Great Mill. I had a Parkson number 2 but much older than that. It used two 3" bars for the overhead support and had a Browne & Sharp taper. Very powerful.

im shore new nt 50 tooling costs are high but luckily for you there is so much nt 50 second hand tooling floating around
