    I understand that in relation to one alloy. Are you saying direct comparisons apply to different alloys?

    Not just steel but many other metals as well.

    Sorry its not that clear.
    IT's interesting to see how well Brass lines up with soft steel.

    Yes, for steels and some corrosion resistant steels it is common practice to use hardness testing as a means of determining approximate tensile strength.
